Commission Original Art Work.

I am honored that you have considered me for a commissioned work of art. Whether you are considering a single- or multiple-subject portrait, Landscape, or perhaps a drawing of your beloved pet, I am available for Commissioned Portrait Works in pencil, powdered graphite, and a combination of pencil and powdered graphite. (Please contact me for details about commissioning original oil paintings)

I use photos you provide to produce portraits that illuminate the sole, essence and subtle personality nuances of your loved ones though the use of graphite. The striking contrast which can be achieved by using graphite and at the same time providing soft featherlike transitions lends to artwork with a feeling and atmosphere that is hard to achieve with other mediums. Each original work of art is:

  • Hand drawn using graphite pencil and/or powdered graphite.

  • Rendered on heavy weight (90 to 120 lb.) acid free artist paper.

  • Sealed with a non-yellowing fixative applied when finished for preservation and to prevent smudging.

  • Comes unmated and unframed so you can choose the exact look you want for your art work.

Commission Information:

One of the most impotent elements of artwork drawn from photographs are the quality of the reference photographs. Whether you are planning to take photos specifically for your commissioned artwork or plan on using a favorite photo you already have, the accuracy of your finished drawing is dependent on the quality of your reference photo(s).

I use your photographs to bring forth the sole, essence and subtle personality nuances of your loved one(s) within your drawing. For this reason it is very important we work together to choose photographs that capture what you want in your portraiture. Therefore:

  • Digital Photographs. I use digital photographs for reference in my work. This facilitates detailed work through enlarging or zooming into sections of any picture.

  • Quality of Photographs. The quality and resolution of the reference photos in this process is extremely important. The better the detail of the photos the more detailed and lifelike the drawing(s) will become.

  • Size of Photographs. Photographs should be of the largest size (megapixels) that you are able to provide. If you have a traditional printed photo, these should be scanned at 300dpi or greater.

  • Single or Multiple Subjects. In addition to single-subject and multiple-subject portraits from a single photograph, I am able to develop multiple-subject portraits from individual photographs combining them into a natural looking single composition.

  • Professional Photographs. Photos taken by a professional photographer or studio must be accompanied with a signed release from that professional. No exceptions. Customers are responsible for copyright infringement.

Pricing Information:

The ultimate size and price of your commissioned work will be determined through our discussions.  For more information on how to start this process simply send me an e-mail with your idea and we can discuss how to get started.

I look forward to discussing your original work of art and thank you again for your consideration.
