How Do and Welcome.

While art has always been a part of my life growing up, it wasn’t until retiring from the military in 2005 that I began to devote more time to art. I returned to oil painting after being introduced to it in high school art class and started reproducing works by Monet, Pissarro, Rembrandt, and Turner to develop my painting skills.

The beginning of 2012 marked a turning point in my artistic journey. I discovered an artist that rocked my artistic world, Melissa Cooke. Melissa specializes in large format graphite drawings by dusting thin layers of graphite onto paper with a dry brush. “I knew as soon as I saw her work that was something I had to try! ” This is where my current artistic journey is taking me.

I have devoted most of my spare time to large format powdered graphite drawings developing a technique, not unlike Melissa’s, which uses no or very little pencil work. Graphite is such a strong and haunting artistic medium. The high contrast of the value range one can obtain using graphite fosters an emotional artistic works. As I look forward to future compositions I am excited and thrilled to be able to create beauty and share that beauty.

Adam Bergstrom, an emerging artist residing in the Bavarian village of Leavenworth Washington, is currently working in dry powdered graphite large format drawings while continuing to produce limited oil paintings.
